Sue Z.'s recipe is one she came up with as a little girl. After watching her grandmother cook, she didn't think you actually needed to measure when baking, so her chocolate chip cookies came out flat...but delicious.
These Florentine-like cookies are her signature and she's sharing the secret "recipe" with the world. Just add a 1/2 cup butter, 1 egg, and a 1/2 vanilla teaspoon to the mix, then scoop it out half-a-teaspoon at a time onto a parchment-paper covered cookie sheet. You can keep the extra dough in the fridge for cookies-on-demand, a fine idea since a box makes about 100 cookies. In just 4 minutes, you have bubbly, golden discs that are paper-thin, candy-like cookies that melt in your mouth when you eat them.
Cookies for a Cause
The proceeds from the sales of Sue Z.’s cookie mix go to Perspective, Inc. Kids Café. Perspectives offers innovative wrap-around programs designed to move women and their children out of cycles of despair into hope. The Kids Café component of the program is designed to teach and develop life skills. The students are responsible for planning menus, preparing evening meals and utilizing a commercial kitchen in a healthy and safe manner. Through these cooperative activities, students learn critical life skills such as healthy eating, food safety, nutrition and culinary skills, and develop confidence and leadership skills.
